Inverkeithing School - Admission Register

For the majority of the Admission Register the boys and girls are given the same register numbers. So there is a boy with the entry number 500 and a girl with the entry number 500.

The numbers in the register start at 439 for boys and 467 for girls. The top half of the register page was used for the boys, the bottom half of the page was used for the girls.

In the indexed entries, the boys have been marked 'B' and the girls have been marked 'G' for easier searching. For example FC/ED/4/76/2/1/B/567 is the entry for George Hutton.

From January 1901 the format of the register changes and boys and girls are entered in the register together and given the next number available.
