09/04/1872- Mr Crawford’s poor Law Amendment (Scotland) Bill was read and considered. It was moved by Mr Stenhouse that a committee consisting of Rev Mr Macphail, Mr Blackwood, Dr Mungall, James Terris Jr and Mr Stenhouse be appointed to draw up a petition to Parliament in favour of the Bill generally, but suggesting amendments on several of the clauses. This motion was seconded by Mr Heggie and agreed to.
10/05/1872 – The committee reported that they had prepared a petition and had suggested three amendments, viz. – (1) The reduction of the Qualification for members of Parochial Boards from £100 to £40, (2) That the powers of the Boards of Supervision be not increased especially in regard to Poorhouses, and (3) That the Law of Settlement be left undisturbed.

12/11/1875 – A sum of fifty shillings was voted to be distributed amongst the registered poor.

12/05/1876 – Mr McPhail intimated that as he had accepted a Call for Hobkirk and would leave shortly for that Parish he begged to resign his Chairmanship of the Board. The meeting cordially thanked him for the careful and kindly manner in which he had conducted the business during the last five years. James Terris, Dullomuir, moved that Henry Mungall, Coal Master, Cowdenbeath, be appointed as Chairman in room of Mr McPhail, unanimously agreed to. Mr Mungall being present, thanked the meeting and accepted the Office.
