This book features seven interiors as well as articles to guide the reader to recreate elements of the many styles of the era, with lists of where to obtain furnishings, fittings and finishings. Many of Scotland's traditional housing stock is Victorian but few homes retain original furnishings and fittings to anything like the extent of Ivy Jardine's Cardy House at Lower Largo or David Liddell-Grainger's Ayton castle in Berwickshire. For different reasons, no other Victorian interiors are like Donald Mackenzie's thatched croft house in Wester Ross, or the Marquess of Bute's home, Mount Stuart near Rothesay.
