Specially produced envelope and leaflet for the 150th anniversary of Andrew Carnegies Birth. The envelope cover has an illustration of Andrew Carnegie in profile along with the house where he was born. Each envelope has a pecial ink stamp with an outline of Dunfermline Abbey and reads: '150th Anniversary of teh birth of Andrew Carnegie 1835-1919 25th No. 1985 Dunfermline Fife'. Two of the envelopes carry the 17p Flying Scotsman stamp. The other three carry the 17p Flying Scotsman and the 31p Royal Scot stamps. One of the envelopes carries the statement 'Carried on the locomotive 'Andrew Carnegie' on its inaugural run, Edinburgh Waverley to Inverness, Saturday, 17th August 1985. One of the envelopes is addressed to the Dunfermline Library the other three carry an address label for The Carnegie Trust. Each item contains a leaflet with a biography of Andrew Carnegie, one also contains a card with a family tree and the statement that this first day cover was autographed by William Gordon Thomson, great grandson of Andrew Carnegie, the autograph is on the envelope.
