Charles I was the son of James VI of Scotland and was born in 1600 in Dunfermline Palace. He reigned as the King of Britain from 1625 until his excecution in 1649. His reign ended with the rise of Oliver Cromwell and republican Britain, however by 1660 Charles II was restored to the monarchy of the country. This document comes out on the side of Charles I, and makes an attempt to examine his character as a monarch, it is full of praise for Charles I and his rule and seeks to highlight positive aspects of his reign and character.
