He records the struggle of his mother and her subsequent death. He married several times and has given detailed entries of each of these. He has also recorded details of friendships and his travels during his lifetime and the areas where he lived which included Edinburgh and Nottingham. Included in this book and a number of acrostics and hymns which he had written.
