John MacFarlane Gray

Photocopies of material relating to John MacFarlane Gray. He was born in Kincardine in 1831, he went on to become an engineer, having trained in Edinburgh. He would go on to design the steam-steering engine which was fitted to the steamer 'Great Eastern'. In 1869 he joined the Board of Trade and in the 1870's he was made Chief Examiner of Engineers.
