Reprinted version of The Mother's Legacie of 1625, with lengthy introduction explaining some "unwarrantable deviations from the original text". The introduction also gives us an insight into the life and family of the author who was born Elizabeth Brooke, and how her mind was "cultivated and her religious character formed". There are references to Lady Ann Halkett (1623-1699) on pages 29-32. She was a religious writer and autobiographer. Her written works and autobiography are housed in the National library of Scotland.
