A short account of the Ministry of Patrick Macdonald Playfair in St Andrews. Playfair's Ministry in St Andrews was the outcome of preparatory discipline and experience. Playfair attended Arts Classes at the University of Edinburgh, where he met Lord Sands, both completing the course in 1877. For 2 years after, he studied science, before entering the Divinity Hall. His brother being in the medical profession, he was unsure whether to follow hi path, or his father's, the Minister of Abercorn (West Lothian). For 4 years, he was assistant to Dr Norman Macleod in St Stephens, Edinburgh, probablt the most organised Parish in the Church of Scotland at the time. Playfair learned a great deal from Macleod, and Macleod in turn, thought highly of Playfair, recommending him for Glencairn, and later, for the First Charge at St Andrews. Playfair restored Holy Trinity Church, St Andrews. Includes illustrations of: the interior of town Church before restoration; the interior of restored Church of the Holy Trinity; Patrick Macdonald Playfair (1918) and (1911).
