William Stewart was born in Dunfermline in 1856. He got a job in the Library in the Linen Mill in Dunfermline which he worked as a youth took him into the world of literature. For over 25 years he was secretary and organiser of the Independent Labour Party in Scotland. This book is in three sections representive of his writing to help hold on to his memory. The sections are Robert Burns and the Common People, Fighters for Freedom in Scotland, Days of Baird and Hardie,Short Stories.
