Birds of Omen in Shetland

Books, Manuscripts
Limited copy - one of only 300 copies printed in 1893. Jessie Saxby writes about two of the most common birds found on the Shetland Islands: the raven and the owl. This is not a natural history of these two birds, rather observations of the said two birds, written by a native of the Shetland Islands. The second part of this booklet is written by W.A. Clouston, a native of the Orkney Islands, and again is written about the same two birds. This time we learn of the folk-lore surrounding the ravens and owls. Various poems, sayings and songs are given throughout the booklet.
