Printed in May 1895 on the occasion of the visit of the Edinburgh Assistant Booksellers' Association to the Advocate Library, from a plate used by William Ged, the inventor of stereotyping, in his edition of "Sallust", Edinburgh, 1739 - the first book printed by the stereotype process. The plate is preserved in the Advocates' Library. Stereotyping the first metal printing plates which William Ged invented.
