Books, Manuscripts
The Abbey of Dunfermline was the most celebrated religious house in Scotland, not only from its wealth, extent and beauty but also from being the favourite residence of the ancient Scottish kings and their chosen place for burial. In the chuchyard are six flat stones under which, according to history are the bodies of many Scottish kings. On the morning of 28th July 1807 the largest of these stones was removed in the search for the kings.
