Smuggling story of two Firths : Montrose to Dunbar

Wilkins, Frances1993
Books, Manuscripts
Smuggling and its history never had the appeal on the east coast that it clearly has on the west. The reason for this is that by the peak of the smuggling era, prosperity had moved to the west coast of Scotland, and there was no cash around to support the illegal trade. This book covering the area from Montrose to Dunbar - the Firths of Tay and Forth, shows that despite the widely held belief quoted, there was a very active smuggling trade on the east coast of Scotland
