This fascinating volume begins with a panoramic view of the works and fitting-out basin, the early pages show various views of the yard and goes on to describe various ships built by the company each with a black and white photograph. Included is a list of the principal machinery used, a general lay-out of the Burntisland Shipbuilding Yard and some Cargo Steamer designs. Photographs and descriptions of specific machinery and parts of the process complete this insight into an industry long changed, yet there is much that remains familiar about the industrial atmosphere depicted here.
