Leslie can lay claim to the title of Burgh of barony and this requires two charters or warrants- one from the Crown authorising the creation of the Burgh, and one from the Baron or Superior granting land to the Burgesses. It is the granting of the first charter that the townsfolk will be celebrating in 1957
