Second Lieutenant, Frederick Guthrie Tait, born 1870 in Edinburgh. An enthusiatic amateur golfer and soldier. This volume gives an insight into his life as a soldier, first in the 2nd battalion, Leinster Regiment, a commisioned officer at the age of 20; and then in the 2nd battalion of The Black Watch at 24 years old. We learn of his golfing prowess and that at the age of only 30, he was killed in the Second Boer War, at Koodoosberg, South Africa and was also buried there.
