The Seamen's Box of Kirkcaldy which came to be known as The Prime Gilt Box was a box in to which a tax was paid for the privilege of entering Kirkcaldy harbour. These funds then helped the Kirk Session take care of the poor. This book gives a history of the society from its origins in 1583.
