Brief history of Dysart from it's beginnings through to the 1980's. Dysart from the earliest times was a thriving trading centre for the local area, trading in a variety of products including coal and salt. However the story of Dysart is filled with ups and downs, periods of prosperity followed by periods of misfortune, war and plague. It is an interesting story and one that reflects the history of Scotland and the changes and challenges faced by the country as a whole.
