History of housing development in Fife focusing on the municipal building programme begun with the Scottish Housing Act in 1919. The need for municipal housing was identified after a survey of working class housing in 1912. Post war Britain had a housing stock in decline consisting of homes that often lacked basic sanitation. The objective of the Housing Act was to create new homes with a better standard of living conditions. This volume looks at the housing created in Fife to meet this need.
