Born at Milesmark, Dunfermline, Mr Robertson was head of a thriving draper firm in Kirkcaldy before becoming a Town Councillor in 1892. He had begun as a hand-loom weaver and then a linen dresser at Erskine Beveridge's factory. This memorial souvenir contains press obituaries, personal reminiscences of friends, poetry etc. There is a photograph of William Robertson on the frontispiece, a sketch of him on page 11 and a photograph of 'four generations of Williams' facing page 75. The book cover features the Robertson dress tartan. P. 38 features the words and music to 'Lundie Mill' and P. 56 features the words and music to 'Land O' Cakes'.
