At the beginning of the twentieth century Fife's railways were at their peak. Many lines joined the main rail artery which threaded its way through Fife linking Edinburgh and Dundee and most of these lines remained intact until the 1950s. However the 1960s saw much rationalisation of Fife's rail network and many parts of the kingdom lost their rail services for good
