The Commissary Court of St. Andrews was dissolved by an act of Parliament in 1823, and its business passed to the Sheriff Court of Fife at Cupar. This court kept, and still keeps, a Register of Inventories of deceased persons' estates passed to them for registration, which incorporated Commissary Deeds (Wills) to 1900. After 1900 a separate register was kept, Commissary Register of Deeds. This index has been reproduced by permission of the Scottish Record Office
