Abernethy has a distinctive history and is a parish of interest and unique importance in the early civil and ecclesiastical history of Scotland and was closely connected with the introduction of Christinaity into the country. Although through history, many monuments and documents belonging to the ancient church of Abernethy have been lost, the author has undertaken to cover as much as possible about the history of Abernethy from its ancient origins through to modern times. A map illustrating the history of the Monastic Chruch prior to the eighth century is part of this work.
