Lorna Blackie on the successful staging of a transatlantic rescue operation . In 1982 , the Dunfermline Opera House was on the move . All the plasterwork, the ornate cornices , wall panels , friezes , carved box fronts and much more , were carefully removed and boxed up and then transported to Florida. It was lovingly rebuilt within the Asolo Centre for the performing arts and rechristened Asolo Mainstage.
