Place reservation for Acta Facultatis Artium Universitatis Sanctiandree 1413-1588The Acta of the Faculty of Arts of the University of St Andrews form the oldest surviving records of their kind in the Universities of Britain and are among the most remarkable which have come down from the mediaeval Universities of Europe. They comprise the minutes of the meetings of the Faculty from 1413 to 1588 ; but as its activities affected most members of the University, a picture is presented of the academic life of St Andrews on a broad scale during a period of unusual interest and importance. Aspects of the University's history are clarified, and much new information is brought to light on the evolution of Faculty organisation and procedure, the growth of the Colleges and the development of the examination system.
