Adam Smith was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife in 1723. He was a Scottish economist, philosopher and author. He was a moral philosopher, a pioneer of political economy and a key figure during the Scottish enlightenment era. Sir Alexander Gray details the influences and choices which showed Adam Smith to be one of the masterminds of the 18th century and one of the dominating influences of the 19th century.
