Lockhart Landels Ireland was born in Kirkcaldy on 19th May 1887. He had just begun his literary career when he joined the army and was killed in France in July 1916. However he left behind him many stories, articles, and poems written originally for magazines and the weekly press. This book is published in response to a desire of his friends to have a selection of these stories in some more permanent form.
