Under the Public Records (Scotland) Act 1809, the registration of documents, which hitherto could be done in any court, was restricted to the Court of Session, Sheriff Courts and Burgh Courts only, in order to provide a higher standard of recording. This booklet reproduces the index which is held in the National Archives of Scotland
