This report of the history and archaeology of the former burgh of Pittenweem is one of a series of such reports on the historic towns of Scotland. The reports have been commissioned by the Ancient Monuments Inspectorate of the Scottish Development Department with a view to providing local authority planning departments with the historical and archaeological information necessary to enable them to assess the implications of any planning applications.
