Some Modern Artists looks at the life and works of 31 artists, each chapter is dedicated to a single artists and includes reproductions of some of the artists works. Of particular interest to local readers will be the chapter on Sir Joseph Noel Paton (pages 52-58). It includes illustrations of his works 'The Lion and Typhon', 'The Dead Lady' and 'The Adversary'. He was a Dunfermline born artist, illustrator and sculptor. He had a particular interest in Scottish legends and Celtic myths.
