A word to the churchmen of Dunfermline on the recent proceedings of the minority of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, including the Rev. John Tod Brown

Copy of a well-argued, lengthy criticism of the minority of ministers at the General Assemby who defended the right of patrons to install ministers. These included Dunfermline minister, Rev. John Tod Brown, who is singled out for particular mention. Their defence of seven ministers in Strathbogie, who installed a minister in defiance of Assembly orders and then were deposed for acknowledging the superiorityof the secular court in spiritual matters, was roundly condemned. Issues are raised which anticipate the Disruption of 1843, when 21 ministers left the established Church to form the Free Church of Scotland.
