Taken from the introduction by Martin Rogers - 'In 1987, 32 volumes of photographs (mainly of the building of Rosyth Dockyard) and 5 volumes of tender documents were presented to the Local History Department of Dunfermline Carnegie Library by the Property Services Agency. Having a particular interest in the history of Rosyth and of the Dockyard I have looked through all these volumes and thought it might be of benefit to other users to have a comprehensive index of the photographs in the volumes. Where the volumes had manuscript indexes I have used these as the basis for the typed versions and, in the case of the others, the information has been gleaned from the photographs themselves. In a few instances I have included a note of some detail of the photographs which might be of help to future researchers.'
