The article looks at ecclesiastical discipline and welfare in three Fife parishes, Ceres, Dunbog and Auchtermuchty. The author has used the Kirk minute books as the main source of information. The three parishes display different attitudes to the application of church discipline dependent on the attitude of the minister and the elders of the church, the author describes the offences committed and the punishments given.
