The first article details biographical details on Andrew Melville, who was educated at St Andrews University and returned as its rector in 1590. A great scholar, he helped protect the presbyterian church in the times of the reformation against encroachment by the government for which he was later committed to the Tower of London for four years. The second article details biographical details on Samuel Rutherfurd who was a scottish presbyterian theologian, author and one of the Scottish Commissioners to the Westminster Assembly. The third article, 'The Site of the Union' is by Patrick Carnegie Simpson, minister of Renfield Church Glasgow, discussing the establishment question in the scottish church. The fourth article is by Reverend Alexander Taylor, 'What is a voluntary church'? which took place at Darlington Place Church in Ayr in 1909. Article 5 was written for the Youth Committee on the United Free Church of Scotland on social issues and the Church of Scotland. The final article is by Sir Andrew Fraser entitled 'Impressions of Mission Work in India' about foreign missions and the Church of Scotland.
