In 1979, Fife Regional Council set up a sub-committee of the Policy & Resources Committee to report on Further Education provisions in Fife looking particularly at the suitability of existing courses, staff and buildings to meet demands. They also looked at usage of resources and any modifications of resources necessary to meet future demands. They also took into account changing industrial, commercial and tecnological demands, the effect of the estimated increase in numbers passing into tertiary education and present government policy.
