Wilfred Grenfell studied medicine in London, graduating in 1888. He became a medical missionary to Newfoundland and Labrador attempting to improve the plight of coastal inhabitants and fishermen, for which he was later knighted. He was Rector at St Andrews University for the period 1928 – 1931 and gave this rectorial address about Saint Andrew in November 1929.
