A fascinating article on the origins of two Scottish psalm tunes. "Dunfermline" first appeared in the Scottish Psalter of 1615 and may be the composition of John Angus who was connected to the monastery at Dunfemline, according to one source. The tune, now known as "York", first appeared in the English Psalter some six years after its debut as "The Stilt" in the Scottish Psalter. Much interesting information about John Angus and both psalm tunes is included . A dramatic view of Dunfermline Abbey completes the article.
