Survey of Scottish brickmarks : Scottish industrial archaelogy survey

Douglas, G. J., 1985
Books, Manuscripts
This publication has been compiled as part of a wider survey of Scottish brick, tile and fireclay works undertaken by the Scottish Industrial Archaeology Survey (SIAS). In the course of extensive fieldwork by Graham Douglas, survey officer, specimens of the products of many Scottish makers were discovered. Where possible these have been dated by reference to documentary and printed sources, and are listed within. The list is divided into two general categories:Building bricks (including common bricks, engineering bricks, plastic clay bricks and terra cotta bricks), and fireclay bricks.
