The address given by the church's minister, Rev. Alexander, is noted and the fact that W. Sloane, Esq. replied. A pen and ink drawing of the church adorns the front cover.

The Sloane family's mother, Euphemia Douglas, was born on 17th October 1810 and christened in Queen Anne Street U.F. Church. She married rug-importer and seller, William Sloane from Kilmarnock and emigrated to the United States of America in 1834. William was the founder and co-owner of the prestigious and prosperous interior decorators and furnishers to the elite, W. & J. Sloane of New York. Euphemia died in that city on 24th May 1886.
