The ancient historian Titus Livius (59 BC - AD 17) records the history of the Punic Wars in latin. The Punic Wars (264 BC to 146 BC), were a series of three wars fought between Carthage and Rome. The second Punic War is marked by the crossing of the Alps by Hannibal. John Hunter (1745-1837) was a Professor of Humanity at the University of St. Andrews between 1775 and 1835, and was the Principal of the united colleges of St. Salvator's and St. Leonard's.
