Robert Stirling Inglis was born in 1835 in the parish of Heriot, Midlothian. He trained as a shepherd and moved around Scotland for some time until he moved to Fife. It was here, in Auchtermuchty, that he met his wife and he and his family settled in Falkland. In later life he began to suffer from health problems and it was at this time that he began to produce many poems. This volume is a collection of his works.
