A journal by "The Spectator," dedicated to The Right Honourable, Lord John Sommers, Baron of Evesham. Written in the style of a diary or journal, this first volume starts at the beginning of March, 1710-1711. The author offers an insight into his life and his education, to mention but two aspects of his life, however at no point are we introduced to the author. "Thus I live in the world as a spectator of mankind, than as one of the species..."
