Statement prepared by Mr. T. Sutherland, inspector of the poor, Saline, of the history of Saline public hall

Sutherland, T.
Books, Manuscripts
Photocopy of a typed version of a well-researched document from Mr. Sutherland. He relates, in detail, how the 1840 building was originally a subscription school, with connections to the Free church in the village. Following the building of a new public school in 1875, the subscription school suffered a fall in attendance and around 1886, it became, instead, a hall for public use.
