Books, Manuscripts
This document explains the roots of the Volunteer Militia Service in British history. This is followed, in greater depth, by the history of the militia in Markinch. Included in the appendices is an oath of allegiance list of names for the Markinch Volunteer Militia and a list of the Markinch Loyal Volunteers compiled from the Muster records held in the national Archives. There are also photographs of the uniform that would have been worn.
