Books, Manuscripts
In 1970, following the death of his wife Mary, Hew Lorimer, the third generation of his family to live at Kellie, and a distinguished sculptor, was considering selling the castle. The property was purchased for the nation by a grant from the Secretary of State for Scotland. It was accepted on behalf of the nation by the National Trust for Scotland in December 1970 and was opened to the public in July 1971. This is a National Trust for Scotland guide to the property and surrounding gardens.
