Yeast : a problem

Kingsley, Charles 1819-18751851
Books, Manuscripts
Kingsley, a Christian Socialist, wrote Yeast as an attack on Roman Catholicism and the Oxford Movement. He highlights social inequalities and poverty in the rural population, taking issue with celibacy, the game laws, uncaring landlords and poor sanitation. The title was intended to suggest the "ferment of new ideas".
