In this biography we follow the life of John Buist from his humble beginnings in the parish of Cameron to his eventual move to Cupar where he began a grocery business. Later he expanded, purchasing a near by property and converting it into a hotel, the Albert Hotel. He continued in the hotel business, leasing the Tontine Hotel and building the Royal Hotel. A successful man he lived for 76 years, passing away in 1893.
