Mill Lade water course ran through Dunfermline and it was termed an 'objectional feature' mostly because it was considered insanitary. The Memorialists wanted to abolish the Mill Lade and needed advice as to whether this could be done through consultation with landowners or whether they would have to resort to compulsory purchase to resolve the problem.
