In 1883 the German biblical scholar Julius Wellhausen published his work 'Prolegomena to the history of Israel'. The text proposed the theory that the Torah had in fact been produced from four texts written at a later date than the time of Moses. This volume by the local minister at Cameron, Rev. W. L. Baxter, argues against the conclusions made by Wellhausen.
